The Palace of Culture and Science was built in 1952-1955 according to the design of Lev Rudnev as a gift of the nations of the USSR to Warsaw. It is 234 m tall and its 30th-storey gallery affords a splendid view of Warsaw. It is an example of socialist realist architecture.
