Halloween

Be honest, it's my first time to do Halloween. It's American culture, I haven't seen this "trick or treat" in Europe. After girls took their dinner, they dress up and we are on the road - driving in neighbour hood. It's too far away if we do "trick or treat" on foot. If we do it on foot, we might be lucky to see 4 houses in 1 hour with full tiny candy bag.
This neighbourhood are in their retirement but they are well prepared to see kids coming around. They are surprised kids grow up and also introduced their new family member - pet.
Girls found it might be embarrased to meet people they know from school. Or little girls are excited to see their friends. However, I like this culture beside the candy things. Girls did talk about the trick - egg or toilet paper; but they forgot to get them on the way out. But they didn't leave any house empty handed, so this was not a concern. I like this culture besides the candy thing. In Taiwan, it's hard to know what your neighbour does for a living. In Taipei, I never know who my neighbours are or what they do. If I have a kid, I'll be suspicious and take everyone as suspect. I guess we were trained to be alarmed all the time. Well trained from school and from home.
As soon they arrive home, their candy police - Dad starts his job => keep candy in storage can. Girls can have a candy per day. And they do brush tooth after they take candy. Somehow, it's difficult to tell kids what candy might not good thing for them. I believe my parents had better time than Stan on this candy issue coz we were taught DO NOT ASK ANYTHING BUT EDUCATION. No candy, no toy, we still had a bit of childhood.
PS:
Just let you know they deal with Candy in this family: Stan made a fire when girls went to school. So they found the candy went missing and then found the ash. Well, candy is not doing any good to girls but they have to learn in theory, better in reality. Maybe it's not fair to say it but it's better to live without all those junk candy things. It might be easy for us to say coz we are not candy person, we don't have the kind of passion in candy. However, if those candy things can change into 72% Godiva, I might be up for it.
